A Busy San Juan Chamber Welcomes New Board, Announces Awards and Solicits New Members

We are big fans of the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce, and we think they do a great job promoting San Juan Capistrano and its unique local economy.  Today we are giving a couple public shout-outs to the Chamber for its good work.

First, congratulations to the newly installed Board of Directors of the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce and new chairwoman Ann Ronan.  In addition to Ronan, the Chamber’s Board includes Larry Thomas (Independence Bank), Carolyn Franks (Zoomars Petting Zoo), John Gillotti (Mission Grill), Jim Carter (American Horse Products), Ann Dahlem (St. Margaret’s Episcopal School), Joshua Jacobsen (Computer Tech Express), Lorinda Sloss (Sloss Insurance Services) and Debra Wells (The Capistrano Dispatch).  A special thank you to outgoing chairwoman Carolyn Franks for her service during the previous year.  For those of you who don’t know, the Chamber of Commerce has taken on the Ortega/I-5 interchange project and worked tirelessly on behalf of San Juan Capistrano businesses (both members and non-members alike) to mitigate the impact of the construction on the local economy and San Juan small businesses.  The Capistrano Dispatch has an article on the new Board here.

Second, congratulations to this year’s Chamber of Commerce award winners:

  • Business(es) of the Year Award: Mission Grill and Fluidmaster
  • Woman of the Year: Gwen Vermeulen, for her nearly 40 years of service at the Historical Society
  • Man of the Year: Dick Paulsen, for his work with the San Juan Capistrano Open Space Foundation

And finally, business owners in San Juan Capistrano should consider joining the Chamber and according to the Chamber, now is a good time:

If you have been thinking of joining the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce, NOW’s the time!

Our BUSINESS DIRECTORY prints soon, so companies that are interested in being listed in this annual publication must be signed up as an active member by July 31!

Don’t miss out, the Directory goes out to every resident of SJC and thousands of visitors who come to our town each year.
