The Fascinating History of the Hide House Adobe

Don Tryon has published in the Capistrano Dispatch a great article about a historic, but largely unknown, adobe – called the Hide House Adobe.  He starts like this:

Along Camino Capistrano, between a mobile home park and below the Marriott Residence Inn hotel on the hill by Stonehill Drive, sits an old adobe that has a fascinating history.  … As unobtrusive as this old adobe is, it has quite a history. It connects with the earliest days of our Mission, author Richard Henry Dana of Two Years Before the Mast fame, a number of historic personages and a mysterious poisoning.
