Designed by Architect Irving Gill, the Spanish Progressive style of simplicity and minimalist form in the station’s plans is reminiscent of the California Mission style. Considered by many of his peers to be a pioneer of the modern movement in architecture, Irving Gill designed the station to showcase simple shapes, stucco walls, deeply recessed arched doors, and arched window openings.
