Storm Brings One Benefit: Freeway Closure Canceled

The rain storm expected to arrive tonight and stay through the weekend has forced cancellation of this weekend’s planned freeway closure at the northbound I-5/Ortega Highway interchange.  Courtesy of Caltrans:
The nighttime full closure of the northbound I-5 freeway at Ortega Highway, originally scheduled for Friday, February 28 and Saturday March 1 is canceled due to rain in this weekend’s forecast. Pile driving activity scheduled for this week has also been canceled due to the rain and will begin next week.  The nighttime full-freeway closures will resume on Friday March 7 and Saturday, March 8 and will continue on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15. These closures are necessary for crews to remove falsework from the south half of the Ortega Highway bridge over the I-5 freeway.  It is possible that an additional weekend may be needed to remove falsework, if so, the full-freeway closures will resume on Friday, March 28 after Swallow’s Day weekend.
