Ortega Highway/I-5 Construction Update for the Week of February 3

More freeway closures coming up:

Crews will perform full nighttime closures on the northbound and southbound I-5 freeway at Ortega Highway for three consecutive weekends in order to remove falsework from the south half of the bridge.   The full freeway closures will take place on Friday and Saturday nights between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. beginning Friday, February 21 and will conclude on Saturday, March 8. Please note that both sides of the freeway will not be closed simultaneously during the weekend closures. Additional closure and detour information will be available closer to the closure dates.

Below is the list of ramp and lane closures for this week:

Ramp Closures:

  • Northbound I-5 off-ramp to Ortega Highway (SR-74) closed
    • Ramp closed nightly, Wednesday and Thursday between
      10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Northbound I-5 on-ramp from Ortega Highway (SR-74) closed
    • Ramp closed nightly, Wednesday and Thursday between
      10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-5 off-ramp to Ortega Highway (SR-74) closed
    • Ramp closed nightly, Wednesday and Thursday between
      10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-5 on-ramp from Ortega Highway (SR-74) closed
    • Ramp closed nightly, Wednesday and Thursday between
      10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Lane Closures:

  • Northbound I-5 freeway between Camino Capistrano and Junipero Serra Road
    • Lane closures nightly, Wednesday and Thursday between
      10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-5 freeway between Junipero Serra Road and Camino Capistrano
    • Lane closures nightly, Wednesday and Thursday between
      10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Eastbound Ortega Highway between Del Obispo Street and Rancho Viejo Road
    • Lane closures nightly, Wednesday and Thursday between
      11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Westbound Ortega Highway between Rancho Viejo Road and Del Obispo Street
    • Lane closures nightly, Wednesday and Thursday between
      11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
