Ladera Times Contemplating Expansion and Name Change

In the February 2014 issue of the Ladera Times, the Editor and Publisher welcomed the “pioneers” of Rancho Mission Viejo.  Beginning with this February issue, the Ladera Times is also being delivered to the homes in Rancho Mission Viejo as well as “every home, apartment complex, business and [c]orporate office in Ladera Ranch.”  What’s more, the Ladera Times offers this:

The Ladera Times is in the process of picking a name that incorporates both communities.

Ho! ho!  How about the Ladera Rancho Times?  Just kidding.

The Ladera Times also predicts that it can attract enough advertising to return to being a weekly newspaper.

For all its typos and amateurishness, we like the Ladera Times for the same reason we like the local Patch sites and the Picket Fence newspapers in San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente and Dana Point.  Local news is relevant and important.  Local is what makes a community unique.  While we wish the Ladera Times website was updated more frequently, we’re glad they are here and we look forward to each new issue.
