The Role of the Ladera Ranch Civic Council

The Ladera Ranch Civic Council is a public benefit 501 (c)(4) corporation, created to represent the residents of Ladera Ranch in a quasi-civic capacity.  According to its own mission statement, “the [Ladera Ranch Civic Council] was created to encourage and gather public comment on a range of topics which may affect the community of Ladera Ranch and to represent the interests of Ladera Ranch Residents as a volunteer non-profit public benefit council.“  As such, the Civic Council advises the Orange County Board of Supervisors on matters of interest to Ladera Ranch and otherwise fulfills the role of a city council or other incorporated municipal government.  Although it has no municipal charter or legal authority, the Ladera Ranch Civic Council attempts to represent the residents of Ladera Ranch on such topics as:

  • Planning and Land Use
  • Public Safety
  • Public Works
  • Other municipal related services

The Civic Council consists of seven directors who are elected by the Ladera Ranch Civic Council membership for staggered two year terms.  The current LRCC includes:

  • Bill Lawson: Chairperson
  • Jett McCormick: Vice-Chairperson
  • Ryan Sheets: Treasurer
  • Jeff Hamilton: Secretary
  • Roger Redden: Director
  • Todd Carlson: Director
  • David Luzuriaga: Director

Membership in the Civic Council is not automatic to Ladera Ranch residents, you must register at the Civic Council’s website.  Membership is open to any individual age 18 or older whose primary residence is in Ladera Ranch or who owns a business in Ladera Ranch.  Civic Council meetings are open to members, and are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 7 pm at the Santa Margarita Water District building at 26111 Antonio Parkway in Los Flores.

The Ladera Ranch Civic Council’s website is available here, and there is always a link to the Civic Council’s web site in the right sidebar under “Community”.  The Civic Council’s governing documents are available here.  The Civic Council may also be contacted at the address, email and phone number below:
