I-5/Ortega Highway Closures for the Week of April 29

Caltrans closure report:

On Friday, April 5,  crews restricted pedestrian access on the north side of the Ortega Highway bridge over the I-5 freeway. This closure  will last approximately two weeks and is necessary as crews work to demolish the barrier rail and sidewalk on the north side of the bridge in order to prepare for the demolition of the south side of the bridge this summer. Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge until a new sidewalk is constructed in mid-April. While crews construct the new pedestrian walkway on the bridge, there will be intermittent nighttime lane closures on the I-5 freeway.

Specific closures:

Lane Reductions:

  • Lane reduction on northbound I-5 between Camino Capistrano and Junipero Serra Road.
    • Lane closures nightly Sunday, 4/28 through Wednesday, 5/1 between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Ramp Closures:

  • I-5 Northbound on-ramp from Ortega Highway (SR-74) Closed
    • Ramp closed nightly Sunday, 4/28 through Wednesday, 5/1 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • I-5 Northbound off-ramp to Ortega Highway (SR-74) Closed
    • Ramp closed nightly Sunday, 4/28 through Wednesday, 5/1 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
